Acceptance and Commitment Therapy

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a form of psychotherapy designed to help people lead more meaningful and fulfilling lives by changing their relationship with their thoughts and feelings.

ACT encourages people to accept difficult thoughts and emotions rather than trying to avoid or change them which can reduce the discomfort of experiencing anxiety and other challenging emotions. ACT also uses mindfulness which helps people stay present and grounded in the here and now.

ACT also focuses on values clarification, helping people identify what truly matters to them in life. By clarifying their values, people can set goals and take actions that support them.

ACT supports building psychological flexibility, allowing people to adapt to changing situations in a way that is consistent with their values.
